Scampston Farming Company Limited have applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number NE/027/0027/018 which authorises the abstraction of water from an underground strata comprising of Drift Sands and Gravels from a catch pit and two boreholes located at Poplar Farm, West Knapton, Malton, North Yorkshire. National Grid References SE 86528 76904, SE 86619 76834 and SE 86695 76706.

The variation applied for is as follows:

  • Increase the annual abstraction amount from 16,950 cubic metres a year to 28,950 cubic metres a year.

The additional 12,000 cubic metres per year will be used by the applicant as water supply for animal watering and welfare.
