Sanctus Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract groundwater from superficial deposits connected to the River Lee in the area contained within National Grid References TL 17847 14254, TL 17951 14253, TL 17975 14209 and TL 17891 14159.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 20 cubic metres an hour
- 480 cubic metres a day
- 175,200 cubic metres a year
The water will be used for the dewatering of Meadow View, Wheathampstead to facilitate remediation of the site. All water abstracted at the site will be treated and returned to the River Lee at National Grid Reference TL 17930 14170.
