Saint-Gobain Construction Products UK Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number MD/028/0007/017 to abstract water from underground strata comprising of Mercia Mudstone at Fauld Mine, Newborough at National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 15077 23746 for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to a tributary of the Mare Brook at NGR SK 15092 23707; and at NGR SK 16454 27470 for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to Salt Brook at NGR SK 16500 27500.

The variation applied for is to increase the maximum quantity that will be abstracted at NGR SK 15077 23746 from 1,234,152 to 1,610,000 cubic metres per year and at NGR SK 16454 27470 from 112,087 to 146,700 cubic metres per year and the maximum quantity that will be abstracted across all points on the licence from 2,070,516 to 2,583,432 cubic metres per year.
