This Department for Education (DfE) research took place between September 2020 and March 2021.

The research consisted of discussions with national and local stakeholders and staff in 11 local authority areas. It explores:

  • current approaches in children’s social care to tackling radicalisation
  • views on how cases, process and practices have changed since previous DfE research on this matter took place
  • challenges encountered by children’s social care and partners in tackling cases of radicalisation
  • examples of promising and potentially transferable practice
  • common and preferred sources of advice, support and guidance
