These materials are designed to help all school and college staff use AI safely and securely. They should be used in conjunction with the other modules and training materials about using AI in education settings.

We recommend that everyone follows this module.

This module provides important information about:

  • the main risks relating to
    • safeguarding
    • ethics
    • data
    • intellectual property
  • how you can mitigate against the risks
  • what you must do to use generative AI safely

Any use of AI needs to be carefully planned, and what is appropriate in one setting may not be in elsewhere. You should always follow the DfE’s AI policy paper and product safety framework, and align any AI use with the ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.
