Details of the application

S and M Edwards and Sons (Giles Edwards, Ross Edwards, Simon Edwards, Margaret Edwards) has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Lugg at Byton, Presteigne, Powys between National Grid References SO 36160 63860 and SO 35950 63630.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 20.9 litres per second
  • 75 cubic metres an hour
  • 900 cubic metres a day
  • 26,500 cubic metres a year
  • between 01 June and 31 August inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for direct spray irrigation .
