RWE Generation UK PLC: application made to abstract water

RWE Generation UK PLC has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number 28/39/18/0059 which authorises the abstraction of water from the River Thames at National Grid Reference SU 51 94 for the following purposes and quantities:
- 8,524 cubic metres an hour
- 204,574 cubic metres a day
- Evaporative cooling: 51,800,000 cubic metres per year
- Industrial process – ashing: 581,900 cubic metres per year
The variation applied for is to add the purpose of public water supply and remove the purpose of industrial use – ashing. The existing quantities will be apportioned as followed:
Public water supply:
- 30,000 cubic metres per day
- 10,950,000 cubic metres per year
Evaporative cooling:
- 51,800,000 cubic metres per year
Aggregate in total between both purposes:
- 8,524 cubic metres per hour
- 204,574 cubic metres per day
- 52,381,900 cubic metres per year
