Robert James Young, Daphne Helena Young and Timothy Edward Jehu Young trading as J.S. Young Farms have applied to the Environment Agency for a formal variation to an existing abstraction licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a formal variation to an existing full licence, abstracting from a reach within a Cut off channel inside the Southern Level Internal Drainage System at Hockwold between National Grid References TL 69841 88097 and TL 71303 88334.

This application is to increase the daily abstraction rate of the existing licence from 900 cubic metres per day to 1,647 cubic metres per day. Final licence volumes as applied are as follows:

  • At a rate of 24 litres per second
  • 86 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,647 cubic metres a day
  • 65,900 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 October inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for filling a reservoir for the subsequent purpose of spray irrigation for agriculture.
