Robert Haigh and Graham Haigh trading as G Haigh & Son have applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006).

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from a reach along the River Went between National Grid References SE 50616 17119 and SE 52572 16595.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 60 cubic metres an hour

  • 900 cubic metres a day

  • 24,000 cubic metres a year

Between 1 April and 31 October inclusive in each year.

The water will be for direct spray irrigation for agriculture.

Further details: The proposed abstraction lies within Don Lower catchment and the Don and Rother Abstraction Licensing Strategy area.
