The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Stolthaven Dagenham Limited.

The application is to vary a bespoke permit that allows the storage, steam heating and transfer of non-hazardous liquid wastes for recovery.  The variation will increase the annual tonnage from 300,000 to 500,000 and increase the maximum storage capacity from 55,000 to 115,000 tonnes. The variation will also allow additional liquid non-hazardous waste codes to be accepted, and the mixing and blending of liquid wastes that have the same characteristics to maximise storage capacity. All waste is stored pending further onward transfer for recovery into biodiesel.
