The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from May Glass Recycling Limited.

The Application is for the receipt of various types of clean glass to crush (which in the glass industry is referred to as cullet). The facility receives the glass as separated fractions or in the form of windows and double glazing along with UPVC window frames either in full or as parts. There is physical treatment to remove the glass from the UPVC frames and segregate this waste for further treatment at an appropriate site. The glass and windows are physically treated to remove all the metal present which is also stored on site and sent to an appropriate facility for further treatment. The clean glass is crushed to produce cullet which can then be reused.
