The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from SHARPSMART LIMITED.

Sharpsmart UK have applied for a new Clinical Waste Transfer Station permit. The site is being developed as a support site to the applicant’s Rainham Clinical Waste Treatment Centre.
The application is for:

Section 5.3 Part A(1)(a)(iv) – Disposal or recovery of hazardous waste with a capacity exceeding 10 tonnes per day (tpd) involving repackaging. The proposed activity will have a maximum throughput of 50 tpd

Waste Operation – storage and transfer of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, including repackaging of certain non-hazardous wastes to facilitate transfer.
Sharpsmart UK will also operate a bin wash plant and carry out the repackaging (bulking) of emptied sharps.
