Details of the application

Ribble Rivers Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to remove Salmesbury weir which is an obstruction or impediment to the flow of the River Ribble at National Grid Reference SD 58707 31441.

The whole structure will be removed for public safety and to provide environmental improvement.
