Details

Undertakers (owners and operators) of reservoirs must follow the requirements of the Reservoirs Act 1975 (the Act). The Environment Agency may take enforcement action if they do not.

The Environment Agency publishes the biennial report every 2 years. It sets out the actions we’ve taken to ensure compliance with the Act during the previous 2 years. We have produced a biennial report since 2007.

  1. Updated appendix 4 now included, plus minor update to table 1.

  2. Appendix 4 has been temporarily removed while some additional data checks are carried out.

  3. Update to Appendix 4 of 2021/22 report to resolve incorrect data.

  4. We have added the next edition of the biennial reservoir safety report which covers the period from January 2021 to December 2022 .

  5. New biennial report added for the period 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2020.
