We are aware of an error in regulation 15(1) of the Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information (Household Tumble Dryers) Regulations 2026.
Regulation 15(1) is intended to provide a time‑limited transitional period during which household tumble dryers that comply with Regulation (EU) No 932/2012, as it had effect immediately before 10 April 2026, continue to meet GB requirements (whilst in parallel, from 10 April 2026, tumble dryers which satisfy the new ecodesign requirements under the new regulations will also comply with GB requirements).
As drafted, regulation 15(1) does not currently clearly specify the end date of this transitional period. This is an error and will be corrected.
The policy intention is that the transitional period applies from 10 April 2026 up to and including 18 January 2027, meaning that from 19 January 2027 products relying on compliance with Regulation (EU) No 932/2012 may no longer be placed on the market or put into service in Great Britain.
