When

Where

Bray reach, Maidenhead Bridge.

Details

Passage through Maidenhead Bridge will be limited to one arch between 9am and 5pm on the dates stated. Safety boats will co-ordinate use of the available bridge arch. Boats may be asked to wait for a period of up to 15 minutes before passing through the bridge.

Work will also be carried out immediately upstream of Maidenhead Bridge from Wednesday 22 June to Friday 15 July 2022. Work equipment will be in the area at this time. Masters of all boats should maintain a safe speed and lookout between Boulters Lock and Maidenhead Bridge.

These works are to allow the refurbishment of the Maidenhead flow gauge. The cables carrying the signal across the river have reached the end of their operational life and will be replaced.

The information captured by our network of gauging stations enables us to monitor flows and levels in the Thames 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and we use it in a number of strategically important ways: to help us forecast and respond to developing flood risk, to manage water levels to support the provision of drinking water supplies, to enable safe navigation and to protect the river’s ecology.

We apologise for any inconvenience these works cause and thank you for your patience during this time.
