Dear provider and local authority,

As you may already be aware, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), has commissioned IFF Research and the Tavistock Institute to conduct an evaluation of the Reducing Parental Conflict (RPC) programme. There are many elements to the evaluation but we want to remind you that research with parents is ongoing and will continue until at least July 2021.

Summary and action

IFF Research are currently contacting parents who completed an RPC intervention in the previous 4 to 6 months, as well as some parents who left the programme early, to invite them to take part in a telephone survey. The telephone survey with parents who completed an intervention will last for between 25 and 30 minutes; the survey with those who did not complete an intervention will last for around 10 minutes.

IFF Research and the Tavistock Institute will also be asking a small number of parents who completed an intervention to take part in a more detailed qualitative interview. These interviews will last for between 45 minutes and 1 hour, and will be arranged at the parents’ convenience.

We would be grateful if you could make your frontline staff and any subcontractors aware that this research is ongoing and will continue until July 2021.

If any parents approach you, having been contacted by IFF Research, please reassure them that the telephone call they received is part of the official evaluation and encourage them to participate. It is very important that IFF are able to speak to as many parents as possible in order to reflect their experiences and outcomes in the formal evaluation. Naturally, everything that they say during these interviews is confidential and will be stored securely until it is destroyed at the end of the evaluation project.

If you have any questions about the evaluation, please contact Sanyogita Singh by email sanyogita.singh@iffresearch.com or call 0207 250 3035. Alternatively, contact the evaluation manager at DWP by email claire.wardman1@dwp.gov.uk.
