Ofsted gathers the views of local authorities that place and fund pupils in independent schools by sending a survey by email to the school at a specific point in time during the inspection year. We ask the school to distribute the survey to all local authorities that place and fund children in the school.

For guidance on how Ofsted will use the responses to the surveys, please see Ofsted’s inspections of non-association independent schools and guidance on how Ofsted inspects boarding schools and residential special schools.
