The Department for Work and Pensions commissioned qualitative interviews with young people who were not in education, employment or training (NEET), and were not claiming health or disability benefits at the point of the interview. This research was designed to understand young people’s real-life experiences to better understand what is working well, what challenges exist, and where changes may be needed.

Research value and contribution to the evidence base

The findings from this research have been used to inform the Young people and work: interim report.

It will also inform the wider evidence base on young people not in education, employment or training (NEETs).
