1. Request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
Thank you for your email dated 10 March 2022 in which you requested information from the office of the Pubs Code Adjudicator (PCA) under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the FOI Act).
The FOI Act entitles you to:
- know whether the information you have requested is held by the PCA; and
- be provided with that information, subject to any exemptions in the FOI Act which may apply
On 10 March 2022 you made the following request for information held by the PCA:
- please confirm the name, position and contact details (telephone number and email address) of the person responsible for arranging and administering the Authority’s insurances
- which classes of commercial insurance do the Authority currently procure? When are these policies due for renewal?
- how much does the Authority spend annually on its insurance premium?
- please confirm the name of the Authority’s current insurance broker/advisor (if applicable)
- when was the contract for insurance brokering services last reviewed/tendered?
- when will the current contract for insurance brokerage services expire? Is this subject to a potential extension?
I have interpreted the references to the “Authority” in your request to be to the PCA. I can confirm that the PCA does not hold information relevant to your request as the PCA does not currently procure any commercial insurance policy, and has no insurance broker. Further information about insurance arrangements for central government departments and their arms-length bodies can be found in the guidance document Managing Public Money. In order to provide advice and assistance I draw your attention in particular to paragraph 4.4 and annex 4.4 for information on this subject.
If you do not believe that the office of the PCA has provided an appropriate response to your request, you are entitled to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your original request and should be made in writing, quoting the above reference, to office@pubscodeadjudicator.gov.uk or:
