1. Your data

1.1 Purpose

The purpose for which we are processing your personal data is:

CCTV footage of the interior and some exterior areas of Cabinet Office managed buildings is undertaken for the purpose of ensuring the integrity and safety of those buildings, staff and of key areas within them.

1.2 The data

We will process the following personal data:

CCTV video footage of key areas within and around the Cabinet Office estate only will be processed.

The legal basis for processing your personal data is that:

It is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests and the legitimate interests of third parties. In this case, our legitimate interests are the protection and safety of our staff, visitors and property. The legitimate interests of third parties are general public safety in the areas surrounding Cabinet Office buildings.

Sensitive personal data is personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade union membership and the processing of genetic data, biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person, data concerning health or data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation. We do not actively collect sensitive personal data, but we may do through video recordings (e.g. political opinions of demonstrators).

Where we do collect sensitive personal data, our legal basis for doing so is that it relates to personal data which is manifestly made public by you.

1.4 Recipients

Your personal data will be shared by us with the department’s Total Facility Management contractor for its main London buildings, who are also acting as the Cabinet Office’s data processor of this information.

1.5 Retention

Your personal data will be kept by us for:

61 days

2. Your rights

You have the right:

  • to request information about how your personal data are processed, and to request a copy of that personal data
  • to request that any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay
  • to request that any incomplete personal data are completed, including by means of a supplementary statement
  • to request that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for them to be processed
  • in certain circumstances (for example, where accuracy is contested), to request that the processing of your personal data is restricted
  • to object to the processing of your personal data where it is processed for direct marketing purposes
  • to object to the processing of your personal data

3. International transfers

Data is not transferred outside the United Kingdom.

4. Complaints
