Princes Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 2776012044R2 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising of Carlisle Basin and Eden Valley Sandstone at Eden Valley Mineral Water Company, Armathwaite, Cumbria at National Grid References NY 50381 41973, NY 50499 41774, NY 50571 41852, NY 50601 42010, NY 50443 42086 and NY 50507 41846.

The variation applied for is: To add an additional borehole at National Grid Reference NY 50349 41793 and increase the maximum hourly and daily quantities. The current licence is for a maximum of 1,500,000 cubic metres per year; 4,100 cubic metres per day and 220 cubic metres per hour. The proposed variation would increase the maximum daily quantity to 6,500 cubic metres and maximum hourly quantity to 300 cubic metres. There is also a maximum quantity of 110 cubic metres per hour from any one borehole which would be unchanged by the proposed variation.
