VCSE sector gambling harms prevention and resilience funding: 2026 to 2028
Published 7 April 2026
Applies to England
The Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) in the Department of Health and Social Care is managing a grant fund to support voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector organisations to prevent gambling-related harms.
Objectives
The objectives of the VCSE sector gambling harms prevention and resilience fund, in relation to gambling harms prevention in England, are to:
- sustain and strengthen the VCSE sector to deliver equitable and innovative prevention strategies
- build capacity and capability for effective and sustainable project delivery
- develop an independent, evidence-based approach to public health policy decision making
Applications
Applications were open from 14 January to 6 February 2026. All funding decisions have been made following a robust, fair and transparent assessment process, in line with the published eligibility requirements and scoring criteria. We have also conducted due diligence checks, to ensure that decisions have been taken in line with the risk and assurance thresholds required for public funding.
All applicants were required to complete a declaration of interest form as part of their application and commit to not receiving direct industry funding (excluding the National Lottery and social lotteries) after 1 April 2026.
We have also required applicants to review any materials and approaches adopted while in receipt of industry or GambleAware funding.
Provisional allocations
We have provisionally allocated a total of £25,441,281 funding from the gambling harms prevention and resilience fund to the following 33 successful VCSE organisations.
This provisional list does not guarantee that these organisations will be funded. The funding is subject to grant agreements being finalised. It is possible that the organisations and funding amounts may change. If these are updated, a change note will be added to this publication page.
Other funding from the statutory levy
This grant is funded by the prevention strand of the statutory levy on gambling operators.
We are also separately distributing £12 million to upper-tier local councils for 2026 to 2027, from the prevention strand of the statutory levy, to help them prevent and reduce gambling-related harms. You can find information about this at Preventing gambling harms: local council funding 2026 to 2027.
Insights from this round of VCSE funding will help shape future approaches. We anticipate further funding will be available for 2027 to 2028. We will communicate further information in due course.
NHS England is managing a separate VCSE grant for treatment of gambling harms.
