Powers to facilitate innovation: annual report 2010
This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government
This is the 2010 report on use of the Powers to Facilitate Innovation order, as required under section 2 of the Education Act.
The purpose of the Power to Innovate (PtI) is to facilitate the implementation of projects that may contribute to the raising of educational standards, by allowing the Secretary of State to make an order exempting an applicant from a specific requirement of education law for a period of up to 3 years.
Since its inception, the existence of the PtI has encouraged schools to consider any barriers to raising standards for their pupils in particular circumstances, and to explore innovative options that may not have previously been considered.
