This progress report summarises initial findings from a pothole review. The report outlines a number of areas for further work to deal with potholes which include:
- providing improved guidance to local authorities on prioritising roads
- adopting a whole-life approach to road maintenance
- using the right technology and materials
In April 2011 a review of potholes was announced by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport under the Highways Maintenance Efficiency Programme. The final report is due next year.
