We have received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:

Does the police have any powers to investigate our armed forces, can I request any policy that states they are unable to do so? (As it seems Grampion police cannot)

We released the following information on 26 November 2012.

The police are able to investigate allegations of criminal behaviour by members of the armed forces. However, Grampian Police, as a force in Scotland, are the responsibility of the Scottish Government and not the Home Office.
