Police Liaison Officer in UKBA: duties and responsibilitie

Published 9 January 2014

You may be aware that on 26 March the Home Secretary announced that the government had decided to end the executive agency status of the UK Border Agency and bring its functions back within the Home Office. The UK Border Agency has now been replaced by two organisations; Immigration Enforcement and UK Visas and Immigration. We have therefore considered your questions in respect of those departments which would have been part of the former UK Border Agency.

‘Police Liaison Officer’ is not a designated role in UK Visas and Immigration. However, the role currently exists in two teams within Immigration Enforcement:

  • 1 of the 19 Immigration, Compliance and Enforcement (ICE) Teams has Police Liaison Officers
  • the Immigration National Security and Counter Terrorism Team in the Intelligence Services Team also has a Police Liaison Officer

Job descriptions detailing the roles and responsibilities of these posts are attached.
