Applies to England

The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England & Wales) Regulations 2010 from Wolf Minerals (UK) Limited.

  • Application number: EPR/GP3531EX/A001
  • Regulated facility type: Roasting or sintering of metal ore, including sulphide ore, or any mixture of iron ore with or without other minerals [Section 2.1 Part A(1)(a) of Schedule 1 Part 2 of EPR] and crushing, grinding or other size reduction of any designated mineral or mineral product [Section 3.5 Part B(a) of Schedule 1 Part 2 of EPR]
  • Regulated facility location: Drakelands Mineral Processing Facility, Crownhill Down, Higher Drakelands, Plympton, Devon, PL7 5BS

Please note that this application is separate from the Hemerdon Mining Waste Facility which also forms part of the wider mining operations that are proposed at this site. The Mining Waste operation was subject to a separate permit application which was assessed by the Environment Agency and resulted in an EPR permit being issued for that facility (EPR/FB3639RK) in December 2013.

The application contains a description of:

  • the installation
  • the materials, substances and energy it will use and generate
  • the conditions of its site
  • the source, nature and quantity of its foreseeable emissions and their significant effects on the environment
  • the proposed techniques for preventing, reducing, and monitoring its emissions and preventing and recovering waste
  • and an outline of the main alternatives, if any, considered
