Peter Stephen Mee, Zoe Aileen Mee and Judith Nan Mee trading as Mee Farmers have applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number 5/32/9/S/209 which authorises the abstraction of water from the River Nene between National Grid References TL 08390 95466 and TL 08379 95023 for the purpose of spray irrigation.
The variation applied for is a licence between 1 March and 31 October at the following quantities:
- 85 cubic metres per hour
- 2,000 cubic metres per day
- 70,000 cubic metres per year
- At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 23.5 litres per second.
Trickle irrigation will be included as an additional purpose. Mee Farmers are currently licenced for a maximum of 30,000 cubic metres annually between April and October only. The proposed abstraction lies within the Nene Abstraction Licensing Strategy area
