Applies to England

An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Peter Burgoyne. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Teme at National Grid Reference SO 79790 53363.

The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates and periods:

  • 50 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,000 cubic metres a day
  • 30,000 cubic metres a year

Between April and September inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for spray irrigation of crops. Further details are: Any licence granted shall have a Hands off Flow (HoF) condition which will state abstraction must cease when flow in the River Teme falls below 226 megalitres per day. The applicant will construct an ‘off-line’ storage reservoir which will fill from rainfall and run-off only, during the winter; they can then use this water for spray irrigation when the HoF is in force.
