PAYE software recognition

If you’ve developed and released commercial payroll software, you can apply for HMRC recognition of your product.

You must meet all the following criteria before you apply. We’ll reject your application if you do not.

You must have:

  • finished developing your payroll software
  • completed thorough testing of the product
  • made the software available to the market

To apply, contact HMRC’s Software Development Support Team using the ‘Support’ link on the HMRC Developer Hub

Include in your query:

  • the phrase ‘PAYE recognition’
  • your 4-digit Vendor ID

The Software Development Support Team will respond with detailed instructions about your application.
