The consultation period for this application has ended. You can view current licences on the Public Registers.

The Environment Agency is proposing to vary (change) licence number 32/060 held by Patricia Reilly to protect the River Itchen Special Area of Conservation (SAC).

The Environment Agency is required to give notice of this proposal. The Environment Agency gives this notice in line with section 52 of the Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by section 22 of the Water Act 2003) and regulation 31 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

This licence allows the licence holder Patricia Reilly of:

Itchen Valley Trout Farm
Alresford
Hampshire
SO24 0RG

to abstract a total of 20,000 cubic metres (m³) of water a day, and a total of 7,320,000 m³ a year, from surface water at Itchen Valley Trout Farm in New Alresford, Hampshire. This is at National Grid References (NGR)

  • SU 57554 31892
  • SU 57559 31778
  • SU 57412 31832

The licence holder can abstract water for fish farming.

The proposal is to limit the amount of water that can be abstracted from the Cheriton Stream to 11,900 m³ a day and to include a time limit on the licence of 31 March 2025.

For administrative reasons, we propose to update the licence by removing NGR SU 57554 31892 and include more accurate grid references for the remaining points.

The Environment Agency has made this proposal as part of a programme to help restore sustainable abstraction.
