Oversight of out-of-school settings: lessons learnt from the DfE funded pilot

Details

This report was commissioned to help evaluate the out-of-school settings (OOSS) multi-agency pilot scheme.

We provided over £3 million of funding to selected local authorities to:

  • pilot and demonstrate the benefits of multi-agency working between local authorities and relevant agencies
  • identify and intervene in OOSS of concern and test the utility of existing legal powers

The intention of the pilots was to help build the evidence base for further action, including the need for legislation.

The findings may be of interest to:

  • policy makers
  • local authorities
  • schools
  • representative bodies for out-of-school settings
