This is the 8th annual report from the Department for Work and Pensions which sets out information about the Government’s strategy to alleviate poverty and social exclusion, and details the progress made towards achieving its targets. This year’s report focuses on the issue of child poverty, looking at the problems faced by children and their families, government policy to tackle child poverty and the progress made so far. This publication also includes a companion document which contains the data indicators used to monitor progress in tackling poverty and social exclusion.

This Command Paper was laid before Parliament by a Government Minister by Command of Her Majesty. Command Papers are considered by the Government to be of interest to Parliament but are not required to be presented by legislation.
