This Policy Framework is for use by HMPPS staff in prison establishments such as Industrial Managers, Heads of Reducing Reoffending and Governors. It sets out duties, rules, and general guidance to follow when considering opening, closing, or changing a prison industries workshop or laundry.
The Policy Framework provides Industrial Managers and Governors with a mandatory decision-making process that is robust, consistent and takes due account of the needs of HMPPS and the criticality of the custodial market.
