Details
Restoration and repairs are to be undertaken on the Old Gasworks Bridge at Friars Wharf, during the winter period 2023/24.
These works require scaffolding and encapsulation of the structure for operational safety, and safety of river users.
These works will reduce the air draft of the bridge to 2.2 metres. This will be clearly signed on the bridge, together with hazard warning signage.
During the period of works additional user signage will be posted on the lock side at Osney and Iffley Locks, up and downstream of the river restriction.
Masters are responsible for the craft and crews safety at all times, and should familiarise their crew with the air draft restrictions, when navigating within the Iffley reach.
