In February 2025, the Department for Education (DfE) published its Apprenticeship Assessment Principles setting out a range of changes to the current approach to EPA.
As a result, Ofqual is consulting on changes to the regulatory framework for apprenticeship assessment. The information on this page is subject to change and will be updated following the conclusion of all relevant consultations.
Ofqual’s regulation of apprenticeship assessments is in line with our overall regulatory approach, which is risk-based. It has some specific characteristics which are tailored to the risks we see in the apprenticeships market. This document should be considered alongside Ofqual’s General Conditions of Recognition and the EPA Qualification Level Conditions and guidance.
