Number of SIA licences issued over the last 24 months

Please provide the total number of SIA licences issued over the most recent 24-month period available at the time of this request.

I would like the data to be broken down by licence type, including (but not limited to):

  • door supervision
  • security guarding
  • public space surveillance (CCTV)
  • close protection
  • vehicle immobilisation (if applicable)
  • any other non-frontline licensable activities currently issued by the SIA

If possible, please also confirm:

  • the exact date range covered by the data
  • whether the figures represent individual licence grants (including renewals) rather than unique individuals

Response

The SIA holds the information which you have requested.

We attach a CSV file which shows the total number of individual SIA licences granted between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2025, broken down by licence sector. There are frontline and non-frontline SIA licences. The frontline SIA licence sectors are:

  • cash and valuables in transit
  • close protection
  • door supervision
  • key holding
  • public space surveillance (CCTV)
  • security guarding
  • vehicle immobilisation (Northern Ireland only)
