Number of SIA contractual home workers

This is an information request relating to the number of staff who are contractual home workers.

Please include the following information:

  • The number of staff that currently work employed by the organisation that are contractual home workers
  • The number of contractual home workers employed by the organisation in each of the last 3 financial years: 2019 to 2020; 2020 to 2021; 2021 to 2022

I confirm that the SIA holds the information that you have requested.

You have defined “contractual home workers” as employees who have it written into their contracts that their normal working arrangements are to work from home. At the SIA, contractual home workers have regional or national responsibilities which mean there is an expectation to be working out in the regions or nationally, so whilst based at home their working day can involve travel regionally or nationally and to the London office when required for specific meetings.

As at 29 September 2022 there were 80 employees who were employed as contractual home workers within the following teams:

For the financial year 2019 to 2020 there were 56 employees who were employed as contractual home workers within the following teams:

For the financial year 2020 to 2021 there were 63 employees who were employed as contractual home workers within the following teams:

Compliance and Inspections 38

For the financial year 2021 to 2022 there were 62 employees who were employed as contractual home workers within the following teams:
