The role:

The NDA is charged with the mission to clean-up the UK’s earliest nuclear sites sustainably, safely, and securely - this is one of the most important environmental programs in the world.  Ensuring that we have the right people with the right skills in the right place and time is critical to the delivery of our mission

In this context, we are looking for a Head of NDA group Skills & Early Careers to support our Group People Development Director. This is a crucial role and will help create our future through providing strategic direction, and developing creative interventions and campaigns to attract, develop and retain critical, scarce, and high-demand skills across the group.  

We’ll need you to:

  • Lead our group skills programmes and enhance our strategic workforce planning (SWP) and skills development
  • Project Manage group-wide projects to address critical, scarce, and high demand skills – including guiding and developing our early careers programmes
  • Be our Skills Subject Matter Expert, align NDA group activities, contribute to the National Nuclear Skills Agenda, and proactively lead and champion industry-wide skills projects.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

As you can see this is a pivotal, high-profile role within our group, and you’ll bring a collaborative mentality, project management focus and first-class communication skills to our business, as well as

  • A recognized HR, L&D or talent qualification, such as MCIPD, or equivalent demonstrable industry experience in skills-based role
  • An inquisitive mindset coupled with a continuous improvement mentality - we’ll ask about your experience of shaping and maintaining new networks and managing creative interventions/projects.
  • In depth knowledge of strategic workforce planning, resource allocation and skills development

You can be based anywhere in the UK; however, we expect you to travel regularly to our offices and operating company sites across the UK. 

We would like to bring you in at Band 8-9 dependent on the skills, values, and knowledge you bring to the NDA.  The salary band for this will be £70,550 to £83,000. There may be some flexibility with the starting salary in exceptional cases and, in due course, there is the potential for you to develop the role further, with a commensurate increase in compensation.  We also offer excellent benefits including bonus (up to 30%), 30 days leave and membership of our Defined Benefit pension scheme.
