Base location:  Flexible – West Cumbria, Warrington,, London or Oxfordshire. Hybrid working is available with 40% of time in an NDA Office

Reports to:  Group Chief Assurance & Performance Officer

The role:

To lead, promote and undertake assurance across the NDA group of companies.

Accountabilities:

  • Be the group lead on all Assurance matters including all reviews and reports.
  • Lead the Assurance Community across the group.
  • Maintain the Group Wide Assurance Plan.
  • Put in place a Group Wide Assurance Improvement Plan.
  • Act as the agent for the Group Chief Assurance and Performance Officer in their role as SRO Sponsor.
  • Be responsible for the Project Management Office within the Assurance and Performance Group and all reports on business performance in relation to EHS, Operations and Projects.
  • Lead the operational and project delivery interface with all the businesses.
  • Work closely with the Head of Group Internal Audit Director to ensure oversight of activities are fully covered.
  • Work closely with the Group Performance Improvement Director to ensure Assurance learnings are built into our approach to continuous improvement and Group Learning.
  • Manage the interface with Infrastructure Planning Authority and other Government agencies such as Cabinet Office.
  • Lead input to GLT, NDA Board, ARAC, MPR/MGM/QGM with UKGI and DESNEZ on all assurance matters.
  • Ensure group processes, standards, guidance documents and procedures are in place and maintained for all of the above.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

  • Shares and demonstrates the NDA values of respect, openness, collaboration, performance and creativity.
  • Degree qualified in an engineering or science subject (or equivalent), MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience of working in the nuclear industry.
  • Have a track record of major project delivery in excess of £500m, preferably within the nuclear industry and experience in nuclear operations.
  • Experience and track record of driving change and improvements in operations and major project delivery.
