Northumbrian Water Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 1/23/01/159 to abstract water from surface water at NY 92 72 for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to surface water at NY 96 75.

The variation applied for is to increase the abstraction quantities. This will increase the abstraction quantities to 2,500 cubic metres per hour, 60,000 cubic metres per day and 21,900,000 cubic metres per year at an instantaneous rate of 695 litres per second. The transfer is within the Tyne Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy reporting area.
