An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Norbury Weir Limited. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the River Dove at:

Norbury Weir
Dove Farm
Norbury
Ashbourne
Derbyshire

At National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 12435 42459 before returning it to the River Dove at NGR SK 12384 42449 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 23,400 cubic metres an hour
  • 561,600 cubic metres a day
  • 140,400,000 cubic metres a year

Between 1 January and 31 December inclusive in each year.

Further details are that the applicant is proposing to install a single archimedean screw turbine and associated intake channel, together with a best practice 2-flight Larinier fish pass alongside Norbury Weir.
