Details

This document outlines the projects granted under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 during 2016 with a primary purpose of protection of the natural environment in the interests of the health or welfare of human beings or animals.

The following projects were granted:

  • bala sluices salmon smolt tagging and tracking (salmon, acoustic, tags, salmonids, tagging)

  • ecotoxicology of micro pollutants for fish protection (fish, ecotoxicology, micro pollutants, environment)

  • ecology, genetics and conservation of ruminant populations (sheep, deer, ecology, evolution, ageing, parasites)

  • exposure of rainbow trout to crude oil (fish, crude oil, taint)

  • exposure to and effects of contaminants on birds (birds, environmental contaminants, behaviour, ecology)

  • assessing freshwater fisheries (wildlife, population, salmo, anguilla)

  • biological control of invasive signal crayfish by european eel and associated effects on sediment dynamics (eel, crayfish, sediment release)

  • investigation of ecotoxicology and pathophysiology of fish (fish pathology, fish physiology, fish toxicology)

  • ecophysiological studies of fish (fish, growth, behaviour, life history)
