Details of the application

Nexperia UK Ltd. has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to renew a time-limited variation of the full licence. The licence authorises groundwater abstraction from Chester Pebble Beds & Collyhurst Sandstone from a borehole located at National Grid Reference SJ 90695 86715, in Bramhall Moor Lane, Hazel Grove, Stockport. SK7 5BJ.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 60 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,430 cubic metres a day
  • 500,000 cubic metres a year.

The water will be used by the applicant in their on-site industrial processes.

The time-limited variation was first granted on 08/02/2017 and set with an expiry date of 31/03/2022. The variation authorises increases in the abstraction rates from the previously licensed 55 cubic metres an hour, 1,300 cubic metres a day and 409,000 cubic metres a year to the larger quantities mentioned above.

The applicant, through this application, is seeking to renew the variation which, if granted, will allow the company to continue to abstract at these higher rates.
