Details of the application

Newmafruit Farms Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.

The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Stour catchment.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water as follows:

  • at an instantaneous rate of 0.9 litres per second
  • 3 cubic metres an hour
  • 72 cubic metres a day
  • 6,989 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 May and 30 September inclusive in each year
  • at National Grid Reference TR 09704 58210
  • from abstraction location underground strata comprising chalk at Denstead, Upper Harbledown, Kent.

The water will be used for Trickle irrigation storage.
