Nene Park Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the River Nene at West Holmes Island at National Grid Reference (NGR) TL 10399 97623 to transfer it to an unnamed drain at NGR TL 10466 97606 without intervening use. The abstraction will aid in wetland creation on West Holmes Island.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 4,327 cubic metres an hour

  • 103,862 cubic metres a day

  • 8,000,000 cubic metres a year
