Natural England has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from a ditch connected to King’s Sedgemoor Drain at National Grid Reference (NGR) ST 40729 34028 to transfer it to the enclosed ditch system of the King’s Sedgemoor Raised Water Level Area at NGR ST 40729 34028 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

112 cubic metres an hour

752 cubic metres a day

142,477 cubic metres a year

between 1 March and 31 October inclusive in each year.
The water will be used to transfer water to preserve peat and maintain a raised water level area for wading birds.
