Natural England has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.

The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Brue catchment.

The application is for a licence to abstract (take) water from Black Ditch at National Grid Reference (NGR) ST 41048 41055 South Drain and at National Grid Reference ST 42721 40937 to transfer it to Shapwick Heath National Nature Reserve at NGR ST 41147 41625 without intervening use.

Abstraction will take place between April and October inclusive in each year.
