MWH Treatment Limited: application made to abstract water

MWH Treatment Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract groundwater from superficial deposits from four points at Wanlip Sewage Treatment Works (National Grid References SK 59799 11443, SK 59817 11451, SK 59829 11430, and SK 59811 11421).
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 112.5 cubic metres an hour
- 900 cubic metres a day
- 328,500 cubic metres a year.
Abstraction will take place over a 12-month period, for the purpose of dewatering to enable construction of a number of new assets at the treatment works. The proposed abstraction lies within the Soar Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy reporting area. All water abstracted will be discharged to sewer at National Grid Reference SK 59800 11400.
